Captained the Springboks to Rugby World Cup glory in 2007, John is one of South Africa’s most successful captains, leading the Springboks in 64 test matches. He was inducted into the Rugby Hall of Fame in 2011.

The DNA from the FNB Stadium in Soweto - Johannesburg - South Africa is infused in John’s artwork which he created in collaboration with co-founder Andy Drysdale. It is also the venue were John reached the milestone of 100 test caps for South Africa.

“We were down on the scoreboard quite early in the test and had to mount a massive comeback after half time. We were desperate for points when the moment materialized. Morné broke the line. I was on the right-hand side of the field and immediately decided to be a support runner rather than a cleaner. Morné read my intentions and, under great pressure, made the pop pass. The ball was probably too far from my reach, but instinctively I stretched out and, guess what, it stuck! When I watch the clip, I can still barely believe it.

A few games later I tore the pinky finger tendons on my right hand and my pinky has been crooked ever since. There’s no chance of making that catch stick these days!”
